Festival Italia to feature specialised market brimming with national delicacies

Brands Hatch’s inaugural Festival Italia will feature an expansive off-track show including a themed Italia in Piazza market with a number stalls offering genuine Italian comestibles such as cured meats, cheese, olives, and other delicious treats on Sunday 14 August.

Highlight stalls products will include:

Salumeria

The salumeria section will feature a choice of stunning Italian cheeses such as parmesan wheels and gorgonzola dolce, plus traditional varieties produced from goat’s and sheep’s milk, plus traditional Italian meats such as the classic prosciutto crudo and roast porchetta ham from Rome.

There will be plenty of pasta available as well with some of the more exotic varieties including spaghetti infused with black squid ink or chilli. In order to garnish your salumeria purchases, you may want to pick up some traditional Italian herbs too!

Olives

It wouldn’t be a proper Italian marker with some olives on sale, and there will be a rich selection available with all kinds of fillings like garlic, anchovies and chilli. These olives are hand prepared and 100% Italian!

Biscotti e Dolci

Seasonal biscuits, cakes and pastries of the finest quality which include cannoli, crostatine and codine, which look like mini croissants filled with chocolate or lemon. Plus there will be classic packets or amaretti, and biscuits containing authentic hazelnut chocolate called gianduia.

Extra Virgin Olive Oils & Balsamic Vinegars

Fine extra virgin olive oils from Martina Franca in Puglia, which are all produced from the first cold press, will be available. Each has its own distinctive flavour, whilst a variety of authentic balsamic vinegars will be on sale too – if you like what you find, then you can place an order for more at a later date too.

Torrone

Torrone is the famous nougat cake first made on 25 Ocober 1441 in the village of Torrazzo, near Cremona, for a royal wedding reception. Since then this fantastic product has become famous all over Italy and beginning to make its name around the world.

Gastronomia

There will be plenty of Italian street food available at the event too, with everything from sausage in panino ciabattas, to Arancini di Riso - balls of risotto rice stuffed with various fillings such as ham and cheese or spinach. Plus, there will be Calzone, comprising an authentic pizza base, folded with delicious fillings such as polpette meatballs or spinach and ricotta.

Speciality Breads

From focaccia to ciabatta there will be plenty of Italy’s unique breads available to sample, made entirely from genuine Italian ingredients.

Italia in Piazza will add to the event’s carnival atmosphere in a busy off-track area, rammed with hundreds of Italian cars, plus plenty of other family-friendly themed attractions. There will be plenty to enjoy on the track too, including a race programme headlined by the Ferrari Owners’ Club, and demonstrations from special Italian cars, Grand Prix cars, rally cars, and supercars included.
